First Stop Bangkok

Good morning from hot Thailand,
if you follow me on Instagram or you read my blog regularily, you already know that I currently travel Thailand with my boyfriend.
We spent the first 5 days of our journey in Bangkok, which is what I want to tell you about.

Unsere Unterkunft:

Our Appartment:
We stayed in a cute little appartment that was located in the outer area of Bangkok.
It was further away from the city centre than we first thought, but it was okay, because you could easily go there by train, taxi and tuctuc and in Ramkahmhaeng-the area we stayed in- were also many things to do.

Stock liegt.

The apparmtent itself was small, but nice-looking and very clean. It was part of one of the modern buildings in Ramkahmhaeng.
As soon as you wake up, you already got a great view over Bangkok, since the appartment is located on the 20th floor and the wall next to the bed is made of glass.

When we arrived, our hosts were already waiting for us to give us the key and show the lobby, the huge swimming pool and the gym. Everything as alsways very clean and tidy.

Our hosts were very nice and told us to contact them if we had any problems or questions.
Also they told us what we could to in Ramkamhaeng. There´s a huge mall, a 7/11, which is a supermarket that is opened 24/7 and some small night markets.
We went to the mall to have dinner, which was very tasty and cheap. Also it was a little adventure, since nobody speaks english, so we had to show them what we wanted at the menu without knowing what it was.
Like in every part of Bangkok there was also Streetfood.
All in all Ramkahmhaeng definitively isn´t a touristic area, which we could also see the in way people looked at us.

Sehenswertes:

Sightseeing:
We didn´t do very much sightseeing, but on our first day, we visited two buddistic temples.
The first one is called Wat Saket. It´s a small, but nice temple, but you had to walk more than 300 stairs to get to the main attractions, which is quite hard when there are more than 35 degree celsius outsied.
Also it´s far away from any touristic areas.

After visiting Wat Saket we had the great idea to walk to Wat Pho-never do that! It´s horrible to walk for hours without really knowing the way, when it´s that hot outside. It´s worth taking a taxi.

If you visit bangkok, you should definitively visit Wat Pho. The entry is about 100 Baht (2,50 Euros) per person and the area is huge and very beautiful and impressing.

You can easily spend one or two hours here, since it´s nice to have a rest in between, especially if you visit Wat Pho in the afternoon, ike we did.

What we liked a lot was the streetmarket next to Ratchatrop train station.
Even though you might nor buy many things, since they are bad quality, we liked watching the people and also there was some great streetfood.

Streetfood:

Streetfood:
This probably doesn´t really count as a sight, but it was definitevely one of our highlights. The theifood that was sold in nearly every street. Fruits, salads, meatballs and sausages... some of the things were really spicy, but nearly everything tasted good.
You should pay attention though, that the food is freshmade and isn´t laying there since early n the morning.

All in all Bangkok is a really interesting city, but in our opinion it´s not beautiful. It´s noisy and it stinks. Also the traffic is nerve.racking.
Also the public tarnsport was confuing. thereforre taxis and tuctucs are really cheap, if you know that you have to bargain.
For a taxi-drive that takes about 20-30 minutes, you don´t have to pay more that 100 Baht.

Currently we are in Kanchanaburi, which is in the west of Bangkok. Today we move on to Koh Phangan. Have you already been there ? Do you have any tipps?

    Ganz liebe Grüße
    Anne
